God is a God of miracles. He is a supernatural God, and He wants to work supernatural miracles in the lives of His children. When we open our hearts to Him fully and surrender, including Him and depending on Him in everything we do, this is exactly what starts to happen in our lives. God isn’t just a God of big miracles either, like raising the dead and healing the sick, He also works small miracles in our everyday lives. Psalm 77:14 says “You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.” Our God is a wonder working God, and He wants to work wonders in your life too!

I want to share an example of an early, small but powerful, miracle God did during the early days of my true surrender to His supernatural power in my life. Since, there have been many more, I cannot keep count. I’ve shared about many of these in previous posts, but this one was one of the firsts and has a lot of significance for me.

My daughter, who was four at the time, was complaining about headaches regularly. This was a bit concerning and the pediatrician recommended she have an MRI to be on the safe side. After it was scheduled I got a call from a nurse at the hospital asking me if we wanted anesthesia for the MRI. For whatever reason, I said no. I am not against medical intervention, there was no reason for me to say no, I just felt like she didn’t need it. Fast forward to a few days before the MRI and it suddenly hit me that my child is TERRIFIED of loud noises and MRIs happen to be extremely loud! I got a little worried but decided to pray and ask God for help with this. I asked Him to just put her to sleep Himself. God could easily do that, right?

When we got to the hospital the MRI tech sat down to talk to me. He was in his fifties or so and informed me that he had been doing this for about 25 years. He then started telling me in that time he has only had about two successful MRIs with a child this age without anesthesia. To be honest, he was actually pretty irritated with me, which caught me off guard, and told me he was going to stop the MRI if she couldn’t stay still. As I was hanging my purse in the little locker, the tech standing behind me, I decided to step out in faith. I told him that I had been praying God would just put her to sleep. He laughed at me with a mocking look on his face! After that I thought, okay God, I really need you to come through for me now! Hah!

My little girl laid down on the MRI machine, a stuffed animal under each arm, as the MRI tech anxiously pointed out movements and said things like “you see that twitch in her forehead?? She can’t even do that!” It was beyond clear he thought I was insane and that there was a 0% chance this would work. Nevertheless, I trusted God would come through for me. I had a strange peace that everything would work out.

As she rolled back into the machine I stood beside her and laid my hand on her leg, letting her know I was there. I began to pray. I asked the Holy Spirit to put my girl to sleep. The MRI started, and suddenly I was completely overwhelmed by the presence and power of God! I could PHYSICALLY feel Him moving! I felt the Holy Spirit resting over top of her, and she immediately fell fast asleep. I was so excited I could hardly stand it! I could NOT wait for that tech to come back in the room. As the minutes ticked by, I got more and more excited and overcome by the Spirit. For the rest of the time, I was praising and worshiping God.

25 minutes later it was done. The machine turned off and the tech, along with another tech I hadn’t met yet, came into the room. The look on his face was one of shock and awe. All he said to me was “I’m speechless.” He could find no other words! I said with so much boldness “that was all the Holy Spirit. You just saw God do a mighty work!” I was overcome by God’s power and had no fear at all. The other tech put her hand on my arm and said “I believe you. I could feel it!” Not only did I feel the power and presence of God, they did too! This is what happens when God moves in power. The tech said nothing, he truly was speechless. As my little girl rolled out of the MRI she was laying there sound asleep, like a little angel. I want to point out quickly, she hadn’t taken naps in years, and again, was terrified of loud sounds. This was in no way a normal or natural situation. The other tech said to me “are you sure she didn’t go under!?” She was laying there as if she had been put under anesthesia. As I gently woke her up she opened her eyes and said, “is it done?” Truly amazing. As we walked out, all of the other nurses and technicians had already heard about what had happened and were talking about it. More evidence that God had moved in power and those around had felt it too. One of them said “her images were better than most adults.” Again, I boldly proclaimed it was all because of God, that He had put her to sleep.”

When I got into the car I was so overwhelmed with God’s goodness and His presence. In that moment I had this knowledge that God was about to start working powerful miracles in my life. At the time I didn’t realize that many of them would be through healing and delivering me from a lot of trauma, pain, and strongholds, and simultaneously healing and delivering others from the same, through me. At that time God had not yet started using me to help people get delivered and set free from the demonic, but He was about to start.

I am humbled and in awe of my God and the powerful work He does through His surrendered vessels. I suddenly realized on the drive home that this wasn’t about me or my daughter at all. It was about the MRI tech. He laughed at and mocked God, and then witnessed something truly supernatural. When I got home, I rushed inside, fell on my knees, and again in the power of the Spirit, I prayed for him. I praised God for showing that MRI tech His mighty power and asked Him to transform his heart and life. This was a man I didn’t know, who mocked me and laughed at me, and I felt so much love for him as I prayed. This is what the power of God accomplishes.

My daughter had complained of headaches daily for over a month. Once the MRI was done, she never complained of a headache again. And of course, the MRI results came back perfect.

Of course you might be thinking that God putting a little girl to sleep isn’t even close to him healing someone of a deathly disease. Of course that’s true. But that is not the only way God moves supernaturally! God works miracles of all shapes and sizes. He wants to move supernaturally in our lives in so many ways. For me, this was a huge deal. I was reminded of the power of prayer, obedience, and believing in the power of God. I was also reminded of what it actually feels and looks like when God does a supernatural work. I could literally feel the manifestation of His power and declared His work with boldness to those around me. This is what happens when God moves in power.

Honestly, I’ve wanted to share this story for so long but never got around to it until now. I hope you enjoyed reading about this amazing, supernatural, everyday wonder God did in my life. My daughter still talks about how God put her to sleep for her MRI. This was a powerful experience for her too! Make the choice to fully surrender and allow God to be who He truly is in your life, and you will start seeing Him work wonders too.
