Marriage gets a bad rap. Anything from mainstream media, movies and comedy, our secular humanistic culture, and perhaps even our immediate community and personal network – marriage is not exactly “spotlighted” in a good way. My husband Chris and I believe otherwise. We firmly believe that a monogamous life-long relationship is not only God-honoring, but can provide tremendous purpose and happiness to our lives. If you don’t agree with us or believe this is possible, that’s ok – but it’s our mission to persuade you otherwise.
We wrote this book for the simple purpose that marriages are failing. The statistics are overwhelming. We have seen many marriages ending or suffering and decided to pray about what our response should be. We desired to be part of a solution in our society, not a silent bystander. We could no longer sit quietly.
This book began initially as a series of thoughts and ideas, and then some writings and discussions. Over the past 18 months it transformed into a book.
We hope the book will help you experience all marriage can offer, gain back what you may have lost, recenter you on your love for one another, or simply keep your marriage flourishing!
Every individual holds certain perceptions of marriage, many of which we believe are misconceptions. We focus on breaking these down in order to eliminate this kind of thinking and arm you with the truth. Additionally, the book focuses on various topics including; bearing burdens, learning to fight fair, prayer, kids, sex and intimacy, fun and friendship, and dreaming together. Our hope is that every couple who reads our book will walk away with some actionable and simple tips to increase hope and transform their marriage.
On a separate but important note, Is there something that you feel God calling you to do? This can be hard, especially when the journey is a lot longer than you predicted it would be. I had no clue it would take 18 months to get our book done. There were many days of frustration, exhaustion, and doubts that it would actually happen. God kept reminding us He would complete the work He started. He will do the same in your life if you step out in faith and obey the calling He is giving you.
God is not man, that he should lie,
or a son of man, that he should change his mind.
Has he said, and will he not do it?
Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
